A
PROUD DAY FOR THE
TOLEDO IRISH COMMUNITY
The skyline of Toledo as seen approaching
from the South
on I-75 has a beautiful new
addition. Historic St. Patrick's Church has
a brand new steeple. The old steeple was
struck by lightning and burned beyond repair
on Sept. 9, 1980. The cost of the steeple
and the total restoration of the church was
provided by a donation from the estate of
Margaret Tank, who passed away in
February, 2006. God bless her!
There was a Mass of Thanksgiving offered
on September 9th dedicated to the
brave
firemen, who battled the blaze in 1980 and
saved the church from
further damage. The
dedication of the new steeple took place on
September
15th. The lights, highlighting the
steeple, with the cross on top, were
turned on
at 10:45 PM. There was also a fireworks
display. A Mass of
Thanksgiving followed.
Father Hartigan thanks all who participated
